You will arrive at Paddock to Peaks Woolshed Base on the Lees Valley Station in a private helicopter departing from GCH Aviation – Christchurch Garden City Helicopters the CGH Depot, 73 Greys Road Christchurch 8042 Phone 03 358 4360
The 25-minute flight will take you over the North Canterbury Plains and into the beautiful Lees Valley. Your landing site is closely situated to Paddocks to Peaks Woolshed Base.
Your host guide will greet you and together we will saddle up for a bespoke horse trek through winding trails on the Lees Valley Station.
We will explore one of New Zealand’s working High Country cattle stations, in an untouched natural environment New Zealand and Paddock to Peaks is proud to offer you. Your guide will ensure you a paired with a horse according to your riding capabilities, helping you to really enjoy and share in our beautiful backyard we have the honour to call our home.
Some local history and stories will be shared along the way. If’s it just some peace quiet and tranquillity you require, that is what we will provide for you, if you would like a little more spice in your day then we can also cater for that!
The ride is approximately 3 hours in the morning, breaking the ride up for an alfresco styled lunch prepared by local cafes and the Paddock to Peaks family who are fabulous bakers of traditional New Zealand biscuits! Lunch will be in tune with local fresh seasonal salads, sweets, and fruits. It’s the perfect interlude to relax, take in the surroundings, and recharge for the afternoon ride.
We then set off after lunch for around three hours riding, quietly making our way back to the Paddock to Peaks Woolshed Base via a different route and stopping for chats and photo opportunities. Once your ride is completed for the day the guide will look after your horses while you freshen up at the Mount Pember Cottage.
The cottage consists of a queen size bed in the main room with scrumptious bed linen, a cute single bed in a separate room and then as per a traditional New Zealand farm cottage a separate room off the front porch that contains a set of bunks and one single bed.
Your bathroom facilities are still in the manor of the cottages 50-year-old character, however the ladies and gents is in a separate room and yes its flushing!
The shower also in a separate room, is lined with New Zealand traditional corrugated iron. We have taken our time to ensure you have a lovely choice of New Zealand made accessories to pamper yourself with after riding all day.
Paddock to Peaks will spoil and surprise you with thoughtful home delights and gifts in little pockets of the cottage for you to enjoy and take home. The cottage sits perfectly for all day sun, leaving it cosy and warm for your return from riding. The indoor log burner will ensure you are toasty all evening long, heaters are also available for each room.
Pre-dinner appetizers will be provided along with a choice of locally sourced wines, craft beer, ciders and New Zealand made spirits accompanied by a selection of mixers.
We have given you a choice as to your evening meal and desert, if you prefer some privacy and would like to cook in the cottage, we have made this easy by preparing a tradition New Zealand meal sourced from the Station and some gorgeous deserts, all you need to do is finish the cooking and enjoy your meal. If your preference is for your guide to prepare your evening meal, then we are more than happy to share this time with you.
You may have booked the option when of taking a Heli tour of Lees Valleys Stations boundary, the Station covers 67,000 hectares and viewing from the helicopter gives you an intimate insight to locations not able to be accessed or seen otherwise. Mountains, rivers and valleys really capturing New Zealand’s unique beautiful native landscape.
Lees Valley Stations original runs are still referred to by their historical names Mt Pember, Wharfedale, Kingsdown, Island Hills, Snowdale, de Bourbles and Okuku Hill. Lees Valley was named after George William Henry Lee.

Depart GCH Aviation at 8.30am
Safety briefing and ride out from Paddock to Peaks Woolshed Base 10:15am
Your ride includes a lunch break and plenty of stops for chats and photo opportunities.
Return to Paddock to Peaks Woolshed Base at 4pm
Transfer by vehicle to Mount Pember Cottage at 4:30pm
Overnight stay at Mount Pember Cottage
Appetizers and an evening meal, including deserts will be provided
Breakfast is an option of continental, or a full hearty New Zealand Breakfast cook up, options are either self-catered ready for you to cook and enjoy or your guides will be happy to prepare and cook your meals and share this time with you.
Transfer to Paddocks to Peaks Woolshed Base via vehicle 9:30am
Depart from Paddock to Peaks Woolshed Base via helicopter at 10am
Arrive back at GCH Aviation at 10.30am
Arrival time back at GCH Aviation – if taking in the Stations boundary scenic flight at 11:30am
