Introducing
STEPH THOMSON
Owner Operator of Paddock To Peaks
I’ve always loved horses and for a child growing up in a city environment, it was always my dream to be a horsewoman. I started riding at age 12 and haven’t stopped with my passion for horses growing by the year. Most horse lovers will remember being a kid, nothing worried us, we rode all day everywhere and anywhere we were allowed and everywhere we weren’t, without a care in the world.
While living in Glenorchy Central Otago I worked as a horse trek guide and continued to ride for pleasure in my spare time.
Along the way I met an iconic horse trainer who was a traditional New Zealand farmer, he worked the land, started young horses, and guided horses.
Lucky for me he tucked me under his wing and away we went on treks, riding on some of the South Islands historical High Country Stations.
Now trekking fever had hit a whole new level for me, our New Zealand countryside is incredible.
Along my trekking travels I had the pleasure of meeting the Manager of Lees Valley Station where I spent the winter riding in the snow and well, I just didn’t really want to leave, and it was right at my back door step!
Lees Valley Station is the third largest Station in the South Island, capturing 67,000 hectares of New Zealand’s beauty, located one hour from North Canterbury.
It was that beautiful winter riding when I thought to myself we need to share this iconic experience.
If I have the privilege of being your guide in the Valley, it will give me the opportunity to bring you into and be part of the world we call our home.
When you ride with Paddock to Peaks you’ve then become a little piece of the Valleys beautiful environment.
It’s a time where you just blend into the valley, be with yourself, your horse and who you have chosen to share your experience with.
Our riding packages are designed to provide a small intimate exclusive experience, catering to one to four riders only. I invite you join me on a ride in the valley, leaving us with a little piece of you while taking home your memories to share and reflect on.
I welcome you to come and join me.
